Across all these events, he found that attendees were not networking effectively or navigating big events easily. They were stuck reading program booklets and were networking with the wrong people. On the other side, organizers weren’t able to improve from event to event because they weren’t getting accurate analytics on the success of the event. And sponsors weren’t getting the ROI they were expecting from participating in events.
Tariq resolved to find solutions. He and his team created NVOLV, an app aimed at event organizers, sponsors and attendees that consolidates the social activity at an event. It allows attendees to generate buzz and indirectly become brand ambassadors for the event and its sponsors. Over the course of eight months, Tariq and his team developed the app, which includes mobile apps, an API layer, and an admin portal.
NVOLV encourages attendees to create buzz around an event by posting photos and videos of the event. For larger conferences, Tariq and team provide white-label event apps to preserve event branding. The goal is for users to have full access to their own files from anywhere. The app comes with all the necessary discovery features that are needed at festivals, conferences, and expos, such as schedules, lineups, real-time notifications, and maps.
During development, Tariq discovered that some users didn’t want to keep an event-specific app on their device after event was over. But if users deleted the custom-branded event app, they would lose all their photos from the event. Tariq found a solution with Bitcasa.
Using Bitcasa CloudFS, Tariq and his team were able to provide full access to users’ own files and data at all times through the NVOLV app. Originally, they were using Amazon S3 to store the content and implement their custom user-authenticated layer and storage. Apart from the pitfalls of creating secure spaces for users’ files, creating the app was becoming time consuming.
Bitcasa CloudFS made development easy by providing a file system in the cloud that securely stores all the media files, and which users can access anytime from anywhere. Now they’re developing a web interface with the same user authentication as in the app so users have access to the files across platforms.
Bitcasa CloudFS was the right fit for the developers of NVOLV. Tariq found it secure, structured, and easy to integrate. He and his team have developed an app that can store all the social activity, pictures, and videos simply and securely in the cloud.
NVOLV will soon be available in the App Store. The Android app will also be available shortly.
